Japan visa for Indian passport holders
Japan's tourist visa is cheap and consistently approved — if the day-by-day itinerary matches your hotel and flight bookings exactly. That schedule is the document that decides the case.

How the Japan visa works
Japan charges one of the lowest consular fees of any developed country and approves the large majority of well-prepared Indian applications. What makes it unusual is the daily schedule of stay: a table listing every date of the trip, where you will be, and where you will sleep. Consular staff cross-check it against your hotel confirmations and domestic transport. If the itinerary says Kyoto on the 12th and the hotel booking is in Osaka, the file goes to additional scrutiny. Frequent travellers may also be eligible for the eVISA, which removes the passport submission entirely.

Where Japan applications go wrong
The daily schedule must reconcile with every booking
This is the single most common reason Japanese visa files are queried. Every night of the trip needs a matching accommodation entry, and internal travel days must be plausible against train and flight times.
The financial threshold is about stability, not size
Japan looks for a bank balance consistent with your declared income and the cost of the trip. A large deposit made a week before applying, with no matching salary history, weakens rather than strengthens the file.
Sponsored applications need the right forms
If a relative or company in Japan is covering costs, the file needs their letter of guarantee, residence certificate and income documents. Missing any of the set means the application is not accepted at the counter.

Japan visa questions
Is an interview required for a Japan tourist visa?+
Not normally. Applications are assessed on documents alone; the embassy calls an applicant for an interview only in unusual cases.
What is the daily schedule of stay?+
A table listing each date of your trip, the places you will visit and the hotel you will stay in that night. It is a compulsory document and the one most closely checked.
Can I apply for the Japan eVISA instead?+
Eligible tourist applicants resident in India can use the eVISA route, which removes the need to submit a passport. We assess eligibility before choosing a route.
How much bank balance do I need?+
There is no published figure. The balance should be consistent with your declared income and comfortably cover the trip cost after flights and hotels are accounted for.
